Nestled near where the Walla Walla and Columbia Rivers meet, is the town of Walla Walla, Washington. Though the town has fewer than 50,000 residents, the people who live here help to give the town an air all of its own.
Walla Walla is the “City so nice they named it twice,” and it has stood up to this motto. In recent years the city has won numerous awards, including ‘Friendliest Small Town in the United States’ in 2011 by USA Today. It has also garnered several placements as runner up in Rand McNally’s ‘Best of the Road’ series for their Best Food category.
While there are many art galleries, boutiques, antique shops and more to explore, there is one thing in particular for which the region is quickly becoming known.
While the city of Spokane might be relatively young, incorporated only in 1881, the area has long been settled. In fact the city got its name from the River upon which it sits and from the tribe of Native Americans that lived in the area.
Spokane has gone through many changes, from fur trading post, to railroad hub; it was a destination for miners to acquire essential gear, and was a major source of planed wood products. It is a city that has been at the whim of change. However, like the lilacs that give the city its nickname, it continues to bloom.

Coeur D’Alene and Spokane are bursting with holiday festivities, and it really is a magical time of year in the Pacific Northwest.
